Summary:
The Application Engineer for Rubber and Plastics conducts feasibility studies on production products, designs tools/molds, prepares estimates for job proposals in rubber, urethane, and plastic products by calculating costs for labor, material, time requirements and specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
Development and refinement of manufacturing processes by completing detailed engineering analysis.
Individual product design for manufacturability.
Tool design and optimization.
Supports manufacturing with launch, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
Computes cost by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements and inputs into the business system.
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information based on format for customer submission.
Preparation, documentation and follow up of part and tool estimates/quotes within time constraints.
Responsible for fact gathering and information gathering to determine pricing and maintain cost database and sourcing vendors.
Attends team meetings and provides technical assistance to sales team and other internal departments directly responsible for engineering and manufacturing.
Prepares, conducts and/or assists in technical presentations to customers.
Attends and participants in job order meetings.
Project Management.
Interacts with suppliers to acquire cost and basic technical specifications to complete estimates.
Supplemental Job Functions:
Provides and supports a positive work environment.
Participates in corporate on-boarding and orientation programs.
Responsible for profitability of company and attaining goals and objectives set forth by the Board of Directors.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's/4-year degree minimum required with major focusing on materials science, polymer science, coatings, or related discipline.
Experience in Rubber and Polyurethane preferred, but not required.
Must be detail oriented and technically sound with good communication skills.
Ability to work on a team work independently with little or no supervision.
Advanced PC/MS Office skills.
Ability to read blueprints, CAD files and STEP files.
Ability to create CAD and STEP files.
Ability to problem solve and multi-task efficiently.
Ability to work overtime as needed to meet departmental and customer needs.
Organizational skills required to prioritize, plan and coordinate work activities and resources.
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with associates, customers, business partners and management team.
Demonstrated teamwork approach with superiors, peers and subordinates utilizing skills in oral communication, active listening, written and oral directions and cooperating with and assisting others when needed.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment with regular (up to 100% of work time) exposure to noise, dust, office equipment and supplies.
Physical dexterity is needed to bend, stretch, lift and reach.
Ability to sit or stand for extensive periods throughout the day.
Ability to perform basic office tasks using standard office equipment.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
